Once Upon a Bed Again, II (Fairy Prose)

(Being part fairy, this is difficult. If I can devise a plot, I  may continue adding to this.  Hahaha! Part I can be found here: https://balconyviewz.wordpress.com/2013/07/09/once-upon-a-bed-again-series-fairy-prose/  )

In A Circle Speaking

If I do, I don’t mean to keep repeating myself. Fairies – well – to put it differently…fairies have very high expectations of us mortals. If you don’t know what it means, someone else will have to explain to you what the word expectation means. One can never be sure exactly what a word might mean to absolutely everyone. I would have expected the fairy to know this all at once but:

Once upon a bed, besides the magical pillow and its case, there lived a white kitten with pink paws and several demons of the day. All were often visited by fairies and spirits of the night. The white kitten was especially fond of the daily demon known as expectation. You see…

And this was the first time the fairy actually spoke to me:

“You see, don’t you?” the fairy moved her hands all around in front of her until both of her palms faced up to me questioning.  “It’s this way…”

Once upon a bed, besides the magical pillow and its case, there lived a white kitten with pink paws and a stuffed bear named Expectation who was but one of many demons of the day – often carried into the night. Unless one is dreaming, one is never totally free of expected ways of being. The nightly production of getting ready for bed is one. When one gets ready for bed, one must:
take a bath
brush teeth
thank the day
listen to a story
make wishes (what would your wish be?)

And this was the second time the fairy spoke to me:

“You see, those important wishes floating all over the place are quite a responsibility for me to keep track of moment to moment.”

Once upon a bed, besides the magical pillow and its case, there lived a white kitten with pink paws and a stuffed bear named Expectation and a stuffed bunny named Wishes. All were often visited by fairies and spirits of the night. Guarding and dusting the bed with shooting stars and glitter was the Bed Fairy, Chloe.

Now, Chloe wasn’t your ordinary Bed Fairy. She wasn’t extraordinary either. Her eyes were green and her skin was that perfect shade of soft sky blue and, on this particular day, her mother had let her paint her hair pink. Oh! And her wings! Yes, her wings!  Sadly, those weren’t perfect. Chloe’s wings were real but they were patched here and there with odd-shaped sequins and glitter globs.

As fairies go, Chloe was as difficult as they came and her story kept changing from one moment to the next.

“My story is not changing,” she insisted. “It is being tailored.”  She had put the stuffed animals all in a circle and was sitting in the center.  “I hope they will all fit.”

Once upon a bed, besides the magical pillow and its case, there lived a white kitten with pink paws, a stuffed bear named Expectation, a stuffed bunny named Wishes, and a stuffed platypus named Taylor the Tailor. All were often visited by spirits of the night. Guarding and dusting the bed with shooting stars and glitter was the Bed Fairy, Chloe.
