It Never Dawned on Me (A Poem)

It Never Dawned On Me

It never dawned on me
how attached I could become
to your scent next to me in bed
and your smiling voice of good mornings.
And yet, just now, it dawns on me
that I am becoming
attached to these loving ways of yours.
How odd it is
when people say
you’ve had all this before.
That’s true
but not with you.
