Behind The Facade – A Poem

Behind The Facade
I watched a young boy
shoot his balsa wood fighter
into its final flight.
Everyone heard it crash
against the book shelves
between the reference books
and fiction.

Today
I found its tail fin
and its rubber launcher
snapped and rotted
just as we’d expected.
