My Last Novena – A Poem

My  Last Novena

It’s near that time of year
when I left
crying
but leaving
all the pictures on the wall
of smiles
stretching decades long
leaving
stronger
wiser than when breaths
were easily taken away by the words
I love you.
Guilt runs a course
before it finishes with a heart.
