Waxing Moments – A Poem

So we’re making a meatloaf.  We’re shaping it with waxed paper:

Waxing Moments

Every time I use waxed paper
I remember
smelling peanut butter
jelly
Wonder bread
and brown paper bags.
I remember dark brown
bobby pins
and beanies
and praying like it mattered.
