Little Miss Smile Catcher – A Poem

Little Miss Smile Catcher

It’s mid-winter.
She struts and prances
across the street
trying
to hold your hand
with her own tiny hand
holding a cup
of iced raspberry tea.

Everything in her world
is liquid
and flowing
and waiting for spring.
When she reaches the other side
before the light turns red
she looks up and smiles at you.
She says something.

Walking with her brother
not too far behind
I see you looking down
and I watch her catch your smile.
