Hearts of Acorns – A Love Poem

Hearts of Acorns
When you’d scooped out
baked acorn squash
to one-quarter inch,
I passed by the table.
Each half
a heart
carefully carved
and exhibited
only to
the two of us.
We stuffed each heart
with goodness
and a sprinkle
of sugar for good measure.
The scents
of loving you
enfold my world.
