cowsOld Friends

When you have a best friend like Harriet, life can be difficult.  That’s especially true if you’ve known each other since the diaper age.  I don’t like to be noticed too much.  Harriet is (and I say this lovingly) more flamboyant than has ever been right for any moment.

On this particular day, Harriet and I were shopping for something to wear to her grandson’s wedding.  We were modeling, in front of each other and the mirror.  I was trying to decide between two dresses.  Harriet had already chosen hers, and apparently mine.

“Harriet?  Are you sure this is me?”  I asked.

“Of course it’s not you Ruthie.  But, at our age, who cares?”
