Evident Is Relevant – A Story Poem

Time again for Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers. This week’s photo prompt is provided by Yarnspinnerr. Thank you Yarnspinnerr! Please click lil froggy for other stories.

Here is the photo and my entry:

Evident Is Relevant

The moment was buttery
like a croissant
electric
like a java jolt
and the air
thick all around the table between us.

The setting was white
like a barista’s heart
drawn bright
and feathered upon
the stillness.

Let’s not dwell on this.
How hard it was to lose you.

I should have seen
the no entry signs
before you left.

Another moment
slipped away
between words I wouldn’t hear.

The Yarnspinners – A Love Poem

Time again for Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers.    Thanks to PJ for hosting our gathering and to Yarnspinner for our photograph.    Please click lil froggy for other stories.

Here is the photo and my entry for this week.  It came as a poem again…

The Yarnspinners

I look back on it all as though that life
stitched together
by the frailest of yarns
meant something in the long run

the safest I ever felt
was in your arms
nestled deep under the downy comforts
just before sleep
when you told me stories
about love winning

where kisses
and hugs
surrounded our lives.

Just Because – A Love Poem

I am not recovering from my injury all on my own.  A lot of my recovery – if we count laughter and charm and effort and knowing someone is hoping right along with you…well a lot of my recovery has been at the hands of my loving husband.  I haven’t been an easy patient/wife.  My effin Cajun has come – more than once or twice – to the surface.  But…thank the gods I still feel like writing a love poem here and there.

Thanks to Ben Torode Photography  for this kitten photo.

Just Because

I want those times back
when you could squeeze me tight
without the thought
of bones
brittled by life
and genes
and everything else
beyond one’s control.

I want to lose a clothespin
and be able to crawl under the bed
where your sweet lips await
my giggle and a kiss
and no cracking sounds
to echo the lifting of my body
next to yours.

Let’s try that
one more time
a squeeze and a crawl
a curtsy
and a bow
a giggle
and a kiss just because.

Bridle Ways – A Poem

It was nigh 50 years ago
if I properly remember
at all
that long ago

not only being so young
but the climbing laid ahead
and the marker
placed near the start
and all those
young hot love stepping stones
we skipped up upon back then
in all their verdancy
each lush
with a tease of beyond
life’s measure

on up until now
nigh 50 years ago
or so
it’s told
if one is counting.
