Just Salvage – Prose/Flash Fiction

I wrote this for this week’s   Friday Fictioneers led by Rochelle     A 100 word  (or so) story based on the photo prompt below.  Come join us!

Just Salvage

Buck was there to salvage.  Maybe the old house.  Maybe himself.  Cypress rafters and flooring were all that was left.  He’d taken some rope.

“Buck?”  Sissy was calling back.

“Yeah. The communication systems suck since the storm.”  Buck dropped the rope.

“Where are you, Buck?”  Sissy sounded furious.  “And don’t hang up on me this time.”

“The old place.”  He looked up at a rafter.   “Not much left of it. The cypress.  Someone should salvage the cypress.”

“Look,  I’m headed over there and you’d better be there.”

Buck was there holding onto a piece of rope and talking about salvaging cypress.

    • If Sissy can’t reason with him – geez…I won’t know what to do next! You’re right, he’s probably lost in all of it. Thanks for passing by to read and for your comment.
